History

Kingsdown House and its adjoining stables were built in 1937 by Lord Sefton. In 1955 Peter Nelson occupied the property, training a number of horses to the highest grade and in particular Snow Knight who won the Derby in 1974. Peter Nelson’s son Charlie later took over the yard training numerous grade 1 horses such as Double Schwartz and Minstrella (Champion 2 year old in 1986). During the current ownership Mick Channon and more recently Jamie Osborne have trained at Kingsdown. The most recent Group I winner has been Milk it Mick (Dewhurst Stakes).
