Norton St Philip is a popular village and includes a post office/store, the Fleur de Lys public house and the famous 15th century coaching inn, The George. The village playing fields stand next to the 14th century church of St Andrews and Country Life voted the view from The George Inn across the village playing fields to the church with the surrounding village and countryside beyond as the finest view in England in 2009. The nearby city of Bath to the north is one of only three UK world heritage cities and enjoys international renown for its fine Georgian architecture. There are many cultural, leisure and sporting opportunities available within the city. Bath’s busy festival season starts in February with the literary festival and runs through the spring music festival into the taste food festival in July. Bath Spa Railway Station offers mainline services to London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads. The regional centre of Bristol to the north-west offers further rail and road communications to the Midlands and Southwest via the M5 motorway, Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway Stations.
